Lefkada Sights & Attractions

This medieval castle was built by the Franks who occupied Lefkada in 1294 and it protected the whole region from enemies. It is located right before the bridge that connects the island to the mainland.

The lagoons, which surround the historic town of Lefkada, support a unique ecosystem consisting of various forms of life. There are two Lagoons near the town, called Divari and Ivaria.

This is a gorgeous waterfall that has its source up in the Lefkada mountains and ends in a gorge with white rocks. Many visitors swim in its crystal clear yet cold waters.

This is the most important monastery and religious center of Lefkada. It is situated in a lush green are about 2 km from Frini village.

The Lighthouse of Lefkas is ideally located in Cape Ducato, the southernmost tip of the island. It was constructed in 1913 and is also called Kavos tis Kiras.

Situated 3 km west of Lefkada Town, this is the oldest church on the island. It was built by the Franks on the top of a rock, on the site where an older church used to stand. Apostle Paul once stopped here to preach Christianity to the people of Lefkada.

Located on Faneromeni Street, in the capital of Lefkada, the Archaeological Museum houses various archaeological findings dating from the Early Bronze Age and found by the German archaeologist Dorpfeld in the sites of Nidri, Kariotes, Evgiros, and others.

The Monastery of Faneromeni hosts a small ecclesiastical museum with Byzantine icons, priest clothing, and other relics.

Located in the capital of Lefkada, the museum exhibits a collection of gramophones and various other objects related to the daily life of the islanders, such as jewels, coins, embroideries, photographs, and traditional musical instruments.

The old church of Agia Mavra is situated inside the Castle of the same name, which has been renovated. It is made of stone and follows the traditional style.

The Folklore Museum of Lefkadian Embroidery was established in honor of Maria "Koutsohero" Stavraka, the biggest embroidery artist in this area.

Right on the port of Nidri, there is a statue dedicated to Aristotle Onassis, the famous Greek businessman that is considered in one of the wealthiest men in the world ever.

Angelos Sikelianos Museum contains all the information regarding the famous poet of Lefkadian descent, along with rarities from his personal life, voice recordings, and items that belonged to his latter wife.

This small folklore museum was established by the Orpheus cultural association and includes exhibits that show how life was on Lefkada a few decades ago.

The church of Panagia Hodegetria is located within walking distance from Apolpena village, just 2 km south of Lefkada Town. The interior of the church had some amazing frescoes, that are today hosted in the Byzantine Museum of Athens.

Agia Kyriaki is a chapel in the peninsula of Geni in Nidri that houses a bell tower, a terrace, and gorgeous surrounding vegetation, while hosting tailor-made weddings, as well as celebrations every 7th of July.

The Hermitage of Agii Pateres near the village of Nikiana is a picturesque settlement featuring an old cave filled with icons and a few modern buildings that are made for religious isolation.

The stone church of Agios Donatos is a small religious building in the village of Eglouvi that has a handful of icons and hosts an annual celebration of local lentils.

Prophet Elias Church is a mesmerizing church atop the hills of Lefkada that has a simple whitewashed design, a few icons, a bell tower, and majestic views over the area of eastern Lefkada!

The Monastery of Archangel Michael is a semi-ruined sight hosting a church building, various building remains, Orthodox icons, and beautiful grass-and-flower-filled surroundings.
