Amorgos Sights & Attractions

This impressive Monastery is the trademark of Amorgos. Built on the slopes of a rock, this monastery offers an amazing view of the sea. A trekking path leads to the beach of Agia Anna.

The Venetian Castle on the rock above Chora was built in Medieval times. Its location is impressive and offers an amazing view of the Aegean Sea. A few old churches are preserved within the castle walls.

The small chapel of Agia Anna is built on a rock by the sea. It is located in Agia Anna beach and stands out for its pure traditional style.

The shipwreck of Olympia is located near Kalotaritisa. It became famous with the movie Big Blue of Luc Besson.

The Folklore Museum of Amorgos is located in Chora. It is a small museum demonstrating a typical Amorgian house. Admission is free of charge.

Panagia Kastriani in Amorgos is a church building atop a wonderful, steep hill. It has a stripped-down interior temple and jaw-dropping surrounding views. A small celebration takes place there once a year.

Stavros is a small church on the mountain of Krikelo that can be reached via hiking. It hosts a few icons and some church essentials and celebrates on the 13th of September.
