This is also where Theseus abandoned his wife, Ariadne, who later became the wife of the god Dionysus, the protector of Naxos. The largest and greenest island of the Cyclades, Naxos has long sandy beaches to swim, picturesque mountainous villages to explore and ancient monuments spread all around.
Among the most beautiful beaches are Plaka, Agia Anna, Orkos, while Mikri Vigla is the best spot for kite surfing and windsurfing, two sports that are particularly popular in Naxos.
