Windsurfing in Greece has been popular since the 80s!
It is practiced on any windy beach in Greece and the Greek islands. Especially the Cyclades are ideal for windsurfing, as strong northern winds (Meltemi) that blow in summer months create the perfect wind conditions for this kind of watersports.
The best windsurf spots in Greece are Mikri Vigla beach in Naxos, New Golden Beach in Paros, Agios Ioannis and Vassiliki beaches in Lefkada and Prassonisi in Rhodes.
However, you can practice windsurfing in many other islands with windsurfing centers, where you can rent the essential equipment and take windsurfing lessons. Occasionally, international windsurfing contests are organized in Greece, attracting people from all over the world!
