General information

Kyra Panagia Beach Karpathos: This beautiful sandy beach lies in a small cove right between the mountains and has a fine mixture of white sand and smooth pebbles, and crystalline waters. It is located 14 km north of Pigadia, the capital of Karpathos and close to Apella beach. Kyra Panagia and Apella are considered as one of the best beaches in Greece.

This beach offers an amazing swimming experience and a striking mountain backdrop. It is reachable by car, motorbike or boat from Pigadia. A few rooms and apartments as well as a hotel and a fish tavern are found on Kyra Panagia. Umbrellas and sunbeds are available for rent.

The beach in Kyra-Panagia is sublime

The beach in Kyra-Panagia is sublime and one of the most beautiful spots in the Mediterranean. The waters are crystal clear with a gorgeous turquoise colour. It gets deep relatively fast but that’s part of its beauty. Karpathos is an island well-known for its wild beauty and if you cannot appreciate that, then it is not the place for you. But if you are keen to explore off the beaten track and discover a little bit of Greek paradise in the southeast Aegean, you will love Karpathos.

Very cold water and extremely hot sand

I loved Karpathos so much, but this beach was a disappointment for us. The road was partly good but the rest of it very curvy. When we finally got there, parking is tricky, and narrow. The sand is so hot it burns your feet through your shoes. The water is very cold and it gets deep almost immediately. It is very organized beach, it has studios, and restaurants, but it was really hot on the beach, even with an umbrella. For us, it was the worst beach and not worth visiting.
