Gerakas Beach in Milos: Located on the south side of the island, Gerakas beach boasts sparkling white sand and crystal-clear waters. It is surrounded by huge cliffs and rock formations created due to the volcanic activity on Milos thousands of years ago, making it inaccessible by vehicle or on foot.

A unique natural phenomenon can be observed there as sand seems to be spilling from the hillside, making it look like giant slides all over the beach. Additionally, one of the island’s volcanoes is located nearby, on top of the cliffs, causing the sand to be scorching hot in some areas.

Gerakas beach is only accessible by boat, so it is often a part of many cruises that go around Milos daily. It is not organized, so one will not find sunbeds or umbrellas, while the natural shade is also scarce because of the shape of the hill. Furthermore, the turquoise waters are quite deep, even close to the beach, but their charming color makes up for it.

Impressive and wild

Gerakas is a beach you will see and visit if you take a boat tour, because it cannot be accessed from the land.
As you can see by the pics, the landscape is impressive and original. Our captain finds Gerakas more impressive than Kleftiko, although I would not agree.
One small warning - the water is super-deep up to the very "beach" (not sure I can call this wild thing a beach) - you literally sort of climb up to the beach. So, having in mind that the boat will probably park far away from the beach, if you are not a good swimmer, don't try to reach the right coast, because you will get tired.
