The church of Virgin Mary in Panagia is dedicated to the Entry of Virgin Mary in the Temple. There is a large festival dedicated to Virgin Mary every year on August 15th.
The cave of Saint John is special for its stalactites and stalagmites formations. It is located on the southern side of the island and can be reached on foot from Panagia village, following a trekking path. The route will take about an hour.
The most important church in Iraklia is the church of Agios Georgios (Saint George), close to the port, that gave its name to the village. This church celebrates every year on April 23rd and there is a festival held by the locals to honor their saint.
