General information

Manganari Beach in Ios: Manganari is one of the most picturesque beaches of Ios, located 23 km south of Chora. The beach itself has golden sand and crystal waters. Due to its remote location and long distance from Chora, the beach remains undisturbed from the noisy crowds. It also provides a fantastic opportunity to explore the charming natural surroundings.

The secluded bay is protected from the strong winds, offering the opportunity for calm swimming and snorkeling.

Note that it is a partly organized beach, so renting a sunbed and an umbrella or laying your towel on the sand and enjoying the sun are both possible. Visitors can order coffee or eat Greek dishes at the restaurant situated in proximity to the shore.

Fun fact: Scenes from the famous movie "Le Grand Bleu" were shot in Manganari, revealing the extraordinary water quality and beautiful scenery.

Very crowded in August

Manganari was my favourite beach in Ios. Actually, our hotel was close there, so we used to spend most of our daytime in the beach. Manganari is a very popular beach, especially in July and August. Pure sand on the shore and crystal water, no wind to make your swim uncomfortable and a huge rock to dive. Although the beach gets very crowded, there is always extra space to lay your mat, as it is huge in length.
