Chora (Main village)

Chora is the capital of the island.
It is a Medieval settlement with a strong Cycladic style. White-washed cubic houses, paved alleys, picturesque chapels, and squares as well as the famous church of Panagia characterize this small village and have made it a pole of attraction for many visitors.
Being the center of activities on the island, it has many facilities, including shops, restaurants, and lounge bars.
The bus station is located here as well and buses to the port and various beaches around the island depart from this point.
It is located 200m above sea level offering beautiful sea views and romantic sunsets.

Karavostasi
Our recommendations:

Karavostasi is the port of the island and also offers a variety of facilities.
Next to the port, there is a nice sandy beach, lined up with taverns and hotel units. The village is quaint and ideal for families with children.
Frequent boats depart from the port to small remote beaches around the island that can not be approached by car.
The village is less than 4km away from Chora and is connected by bus.

FOLEGANDROS, A POCKET-SIZE ISLAND
Folegandros is a very small island with a dramatic landscape known for its picturesque Kastro settlement, the church of Panagia with the panoramic view, remote small beaches and its laid-back atmosphere.
The two main villages are Chora, the capital, and Karavostasi, the port.
A traveller visiting Folegandros should expect to find small boutique hotels, rooms to let and a small number of luxury suites in these two main villages.
On the island, there are also some very small villages like the settlement of Agali which is built near the homonymous beach and Ano Meria which is a rural mainland village where locals had their fields and bred their animals.

In principle, if you are not travelling during high season, you will not have trouble finding a place to stay in Folegandros. If you are travelling in mid-July/August it is strongly recommended to have completed your reservation by May.
When is the best time to visit the island?
Folegandros is a very tranquil island. We believe that the best period to visit the island is late June to late July. The weather is nice and there is a relaxed atmosphere. August is the busiest month on the island.
