Highlight Bus Tour with Swim Stop At Apollonas
General Description
See some of the greatest monuments around Naxos island! Pay a visit to a revered temple, walk through narrow alleys, and enjoy a relaxed time in the Apollonas bay area!
This island tour lasts about eight hours and includes an English-and-Greek-speaking tour guide. A luxurious bus equipped with air-conditioning will be your vehicle for the day. Multiple-point pickup is available, while the meeting point is right outside Naxos Port.
Your journey begins around 09:20, as you start your trip towards Gyροula valley. Firstly, enter the temple of Goddess Demeter, explore this historical monument, and go towards Damalas village, where you will have a lesson in olive oil production at a nearby museum. The next tour stop will be at a pottery workshop to learn essential tips about this art form.
Move to Halki village and explore this ancient commercial center, or take the option to visit a local citron distillery and taste their liquor products! The bus will then take you toward Apiranthos, a village offering stunning Venetian Towers, gorgeous marble-built pathways, and traditional shops and taverns. Leaving Apiranthos, you will drive past the village of Koronos and then reach Apollonas. At Apollonas, you will see the 11-meter-tall unfinished Kouros Statue, dating 2500 years back. You may also have some free time for swimming and lunch around 14:00.
While returning to your pickup point, the bus will drive through the west coast, giving you more beautiful landscapes to gaze at.
The guides recommend you bring a camera, a swimsuit, a towel, and weather-appropriate clothing with you. It is also suggested that you have travel sickness pills because the trip happens to pass through rough, winding roads.
Entrance fees to the distillery and the temple are not included.
The experience is available from April to October.
