Full day historical bus tour

General Description

This 8-hour bus trip takes participants on an exciting tour of the island’s northern and western parts. It passes by several points of historical interest, archaeological sites and Naxos’ oldest distillery. It is ideal for anyone who wishes to discover the cultural and historical heritage of the island in an educational yet entertaining way.

The first stop of the tour is Sangri village, where visitors can see the restored temple of Demeter, which dates back to 530 BC. They can also visit the nearby museum, where artifacts discovered in the area are housed.
Next up, the bus arrives at Halki village, where the oldest citron distillery on the island lies, founded in 1896. There, participants can try the traditional Naxian liquor citron, which is derived from the namesake fruit.
A visit to the picturesque village of Apiranthos could not be missing from the tour. The beautiful alleyways and corners of this traditional settlement are definitely worth exploring, and the shops have many local products to offer.
Finally, the tour reaches the village of Apollonas. In addition, visitors are able to see the tall, unfinished kouros statue that is said to be depicting the god Dionysus.
