Tour to Mt. Athos from Thessaloniki

General Description

In this unique one-day tour, you will have the opportunity to discover the amazing mountain of Athos and admire the breathtaking nature, as well as get acquainted and enjoy the Greek culture and traditions.

Our tour starts off from Thessaloniki at 07.00 and we head to Ormos Panagias, situated at the north-eastern part of the Sithonia peninsula, in the mesmerizing region of Halkidiki.
Upon arriving to the port, we embark on a sailing tour heading to the south of the Athos Peninsula, until we reach its southern limit, where the height is estimated to be more than 2.000.
From this point onwards we sail towards the north, having the opportunity to admire from our boat the orgiastic nature of the mountain, with the overgrown forests and the vivid flora and fauna. You will also learn about the lengthy history of Mountain Athos, which was regarded the center of Orthodoxy for numerous centuries, as well as its magnificent 8 monasteries.

After a 4-hour sea journey we will reach the port of Ouranoupoli, the picturesque seaside village, where you will have time to stroll, shop and indulge into the mouthwatering local delicacies. After our time is up we depart, sailing again towards Ormos Panagias and while on board, you will have the chance to enjoy an uplifting program with traditional Greek music and dances.
Upon arriving at Ormos Panagias, buses will be waiting to take us back to Thessaloniki, where we are expected to arrive at 19.30.
