Overview:
Kavala, the second largest
city of Macedonia, is located
between the rivers Nestos and Strymonas, with the highest point at the Paggaio
hills. The region is ideal both for summer and winter vacations. Kavala is full
of seaside cafes and tavernas, offered for times of relaxing. The picturesque
villages, the historical sites and the unique architecture and infrastructure

Special Events:
Of the most important
cultural events in Kavala Prefecture are the ancient drama festival
"Philippoi-Thassos" from July to September, the Eleftheria Festival during the
celebration for the liberation of the city, June 26th, the Sun and
Stone Festival, in the "House of Culture" in Nea Karvali and Cosmopolis, a
cultural-ethnic festival on the peninsula of the Kavala old city. Of particular
interest are also the traditional event of Likio Ellinidon in the Nea Karvali Castle mid-July, the
"Arapides" custom in Nikisiani, the "Grape Festival" in Eleochori in August,
the "Potato Festival" in Lekani in October and the "Chestnut Festival" in
Paleochori.

Dreamy sandy beaches are very
well-known and welcome thousands sunbathers every summer, for water ports also
or camping. Some of them are Nea Iraklitsa, Nea Peramos and Ammolofoi, Batis,
Palio, Kalamitsa, Rapsani, Perigiali and Toska.
