Overview:
Drama Prefecture is on the eastern
Macedonia, surrounded by a
number of mountains, the Rodopi mountain range, the Menikio, the Ovrilos range,
Mount Paggaio and Lekani Mountains. As its name
itself indicates (YDRAMA= the place with many springs), Drama abounds in water
resources, such as the rivers Nestos and Aggitis, the Kefalari springs. Apart
from the natural beauty, the area offers also a great trip on history through
its archaeological sites, as well as unique cultural experiences through
festivals and traditional customs. The city is also a party place full of
entertainment and nightlife.

Special Events:
A large number of cultural
events and festivities with local customs take place in the whole Drama
prefecture. On the days around Epiphany and the carnival period, the
inhabitants have fun with folk dances and interesting customs. Various other
festivities take place in specific villages, such as the famous Carnival of
Choristi, the Cultural Festival in Petrousa Gorge, and many others, inviting
thousands of visitors.
