Ναξος Κυκλαδες

Η Νάξος ειναι νησί του Αιγαίου που ανήκει στις Κυκλάδες. Είναι το μεγαλύτερο και υψηλότερο νησί του αρχιπελάγους και βρίσκεται στην καρδιά του Αιγαίου, περίπου 140 χιλιόμετρα από την ηπειρωτική Ελλάδα.
Η Νάξος (Naxos) είναι γνωστη απο την μυθολογία, εδω ο ο Θησέας εγκατέλειψε την Αριάδνη οταν γυρισε απο την Κρητη οπου ειχε σκοτωση το Μινωταυρο. Η πόλη της Ναξου ήταν ισχυρή κατά την αρχαϊκή εποχη και η ευημερία της κρατησε και κατά τη διάρκεια της Βυζαντινής Αυτοκρατορίας. Ήταν το κέντρο του Δουκάτου της Νάξου, και κατα τον αγωνα της Ελληνικης ανεξαρτησιας πολεμησε κατα των Οθωνανων.
Το νησί είναι πλούσιο σε μάρμαρο, γεωργικά προϊόντα , αλλά και το τυρί, το μέλι και το κίτρο. Ο τουρισμός αντιπροσωπεύει μόνο το ήμισυ του εισοδήματος. Η μεγαλύτερη πόλη και κύριο λιμάνι είναι η Νάξος. Κατα το καλοκαιρι η Ναξος εχει αρκετο τουρισμο. Στο νησι θα βρειτε πολλα καταλυματα. Τα ξενοδοχεια στη Ναξο προσφερουν ολες τις ανεσεις. Το νησι εχει αρκετες παραλιες και πολλα αξιοθεατα.

Η Νάξος έχει ένα μεσογειακό κλίμα με ψυχρούς χειμώνες αλλά οι θερμοκρασιες ειναι κατα κανονα οπως και στα αλλα ελληνικα νησια κανονικες και σπανια θα δειτε χιονια, τα καλοκαίρια ειναι ζεστα και ηλιόλουστα και το μελτεμι κανει το κλιμα πιο ηπιο . Το νησί της Ναξου εχει κατά μέσο όρο 258 ηλιόλουστες ημερες, και 76 ημερες βροχής. Εάν τα καλοκαίρια είναι ξηρά , οι χειμώνες είναι σχετικά υγροι. Η μέγιστη θερμοκρασία στη Νάξο φτανει το καλοκαιρι έως 37 βαθμους κελσιου.Η Νάξος, όπως και οι άλλες Κυκλάδες, χαρακτηρίζεται από την παρουσία του ανέμου, τα τρία τέταρτα του έτους εχει ανέμους μεταξύ 2 εως 6 Μποφόρ . Ο άνεμος φυσάει κυριως απο τα βορεια ακουλουθουμενος απο τους νοτιους ανέμους (σοροκαδα).

Ξανθη

Η πρώτη αναφορά για την Ξάνθη βρέθηκε σε μια έκθεση από τους Θρακικους πολέμους από το έτος 879 π.Χ. Η Ξάνθη στην Οθωμανική περίοδο 1715 έγινε σημαντικη ως κέντρο του εμπορίου καπνού. Από το 1919 η Ξάνθη  ανήκει στην Ελλάδα.

Τα τελευταία χρόνια, η Ξάνθη έχει μια καθαρά διοικητική υπηρεσία (τοπική, στρατιωτικό δικαστήριο, Επισκοπή ) και μια σημαντική  βιομηχανία και υπηρεσιες. Το Δημοκρίτειο Πανεπιστήμιο Θράκης βρισκετε στην Ξάνθη

Η Ξάνθη διαθέτει μια καλά διατηρημένα παλιά πόλη, το πλείστον των οποίων τα κτίρια χρονολογούνται από το πρώτο ήμισυ του 19ου Αιώνα και  αντικατοπτρίζουν την ευημερία του εμπορίου καπνού. Αξιοθέατα είναι η Αγορά   και τη Μητρόπολη. Το ετήσιο Φεστιβάλ στη Παλιά πόλη και το Καρναβάλι προσελκύσει επισκέπτες από όλη τη χώρα.Τα Ξενοδοχεια στην Ξανθη γεμιζουν το χειμωνα απο εκδρομεις που επισκευτονται τα χιονοδρομικα κεντρα της περιοχης.

Η πόλη ήταν γνωστή κυρίως από την αρχαία πόλη Αβδηρα. Από αυτή την πολιτεία (η ελληνική πόλη-κράτος) ήταν, μεταξύ άλλων, ο Δημοκριτος και ο Πρωταγόρας.Η Ξάνθη και οι γύρω περιοχές είναι κυρίως διάσημη για τα ήπια και αρωματικα καπνα της.

Information about the Cyclades

The Cyclades is a cluster of islands in the Aegean Sea in Greece, that lies generally between 36th and 38th parallel north and between East 24th and 26th meridians.

The arrangement of islands are in two parallel lines of continuity in the Evia Sounio line and giving the individual discrimination in Western and Eastern Cyclades, which are the homonymous Cyclades prefecture. The total population of the prefecture is 112,615 inhabitants (2001 census) and the seat in Ermoupolis.

The Cyclades islands located north of Crete and south of Athens, Attica and Evia and west of the Dodecanese islands.They are dry and rocky and they have a rather low vegetation and in certain islands there is almost no vegetation (with the exception of the islands of Andros, Paros and Naxos which, in contrast, have a wonderful lush vegetation). Some of the Cyclades have not enough water supplies.
In the summer, especially in July and August, comes the Meltemi the strong wind from the North who is a blessing because the high temperatures are dicreased, because of the strong winds of the meltemi some times the smaller passenger boats and hydrofoils have often delays.

The Cyclades islands are the most visited Greek islands, they are a group of 56 islands of which, however, only thirty are inhabited. They situated in the Aegean, and as the name implies, are ordered to a circle  around the sacred island of Delos, one of the most important archaeological sites in Greece.
In the middle of the Cyclades, not far from the island of Delos, there are some other very touristy Islands,Mykonos, Syros (capital of the Cyclades) and Tinos that is one of the most important religious centers of Greece, to the north of Tinos is the island of Andros.
Most of the Cyclades, are the typical Greek island. The  Chora  as the locals call it is the capital of the island, Chora is often the classic white village small or big made up of narrow alleys, windmills, houses and countless cubic white churches with blue domes.
The most touristy islands of the Cyclades are Mykonos, Paros, Naxos, Ios and Santorini. These islands have every kind of fun, good tourist infrastructure, beautiful beaches of golden sand (except Santorini, where the sand is black), and crystalline waters.
If you are looking for a little more quite islands, then you should go and spend your holidays in Milos, Serifos, Sifnos, Milos or Folegandros, where life here is still unspoiled by the package tourism and holidays.
Many islands will initially seem very similar among themselves, then in reality, when you visit them they are different, each island has its own charm and in the end, the only thing that is common are  the magnificent beaches that can be found in every corner of the islands.

To the Cyclades islands belong,Serifos, Sifnos, Sikinos, Anafi, Kimolos, Antiparos, Folegandros, Naxos, Andros, Paros, Tinos, Milos, Kea, Amorgos, Ios, Kythnos, Mykonos, Syros, Santorini, or Thira, Makronisos, Heraclea, Yiaros , Keros, Rineia, Donousa, Thirassia, Schinoussa, Koufonisia, Delos, Antiparos.

The six small islands between Amorgos and Naxos, are the small Cyclades. These are , Koufonisia islands, Heraclea, Schinoussa, Donousa and Keros.

Πληροφορίες για τη Σαντορίνη

Η Σαντορίνη είναι ένα ελληνικό νησί του Αιγαίου που ανήκει στην ομάδα Κυκλάδων. Βρίσκεται βόρεια της Κρήτης, νότια της Νάξου και της Πάρου, και στην πραγματικότητα αποτελείται από έξι νησιά (Θήρα, Θηρασιά, , Παλαιά καμενη, νεα καμενη και χριστιανη) που προεκυψαν κατά τη διάρκεια εκρήξης του ηφαιστείου. Αυτό δημιούργησε ένα δαχτυλίδι σε σχήμα αρχιπελάγους. Κατά το έτος 2000, η Σαντορίνη ειχε περίπου 7.100 κατοίκους. Σχετικά με την εμφάνιση του νησιού, υπάρχουν διάφορες εικασίες. Για παράδειγμα, αυτό θα ήταν το νησί της Ατλαντίδας.η πρωτεύουσα της Σαντορίνης ειναι η Θήρα, το κεντρο προσέγγισης του τουρισμού, ιδιαίτερα έντονο στην ίδια την Σαντορίνη.

Το δεύτερο χωριό που βρίσκεται βόρεια του νησιού είναι η Οία, ένα αρχαίο κέντρο διάσημο για τα σπιτια καναβες όπου μπορείτε να θαυμάσετε τα πανέμορφα ηλιοβασιλέματα στο Αιγαίο. Άλλες πόλεις είναι το Καμάρι, Περίσσα, Ακρωτήρι, Εμπορειό, Πύργος και Καρτεράδος.Στο νησι οι τουριστες μπορούν να κάνουν ένα ταξίδι με το λεωφορείο.

Από την πρωτεύουσα Θήρα με γαιδουρακια, τα πιο υπομονετικα θηλαστικα της Ελλαδας, μπορει κανεις να κατέβει στο παλιό λιμάνι, αλλά υπάρχει και τελεφερικ .Στη Σαντορίνη θεωρείται από πολλούς οτι μπορη να δη κανεις ένα από τα πιο όμορφα ηλιοβασιλέματα στον κόσμο. η Θήρα είναι επίσης γνωστη από τα λευκά σπίτια με φωτεινες μπλε στέγες, οι οποίες συχνά αναφέρονται σε καρτ-ποστάλ, ταξιδιωτικούς οδηγούς και βιβλία.
Απο την Κρήτη, το νησί ειναι καταληλο για μια ημέρα επίσκεψη με πλοίο, με πλοία από το λιμάνι του Ηρακλείου, Τα ξενοδοχεια στη Σαντορίνη ειναι πολλα και ανηκουν σε ολες τις κατηγοριες.

Lipsi tourist information

Lipsi is a small island about 16 square kilometers that belongs to the Greek islands group of the Dodecanese.Lipsi lies east of the island of Patmos and north of Leros and has a port, with the blue-domed church of Agios Ioannis and the Nikiforion museum. The island has a surface of 35 sq.km. It has approximately 600 people and its own municipality.Lipsi island includes a large number of small, uninhabited islands (Aspronissia, Arefousa, Refoulia, Kalavres, Fragos, Kalapodi) which have a large marine life nature including  Monk Seal.

The island of Lipsi is hilly especially on the west side. The highest point of the island is Skafi (277 m). A large part of the island is used for the hats of goat herds. There are sheep and cows on the island. There is still only agriculture (wheat crop), viticulture and vegetable. Lipsi has some good beaches, including Platis Yialos, Katsadia, Choklakoura, Kamares, Lendou and the very nicely landscape of Monodendri. Tourism started especially since the eighties and had a strong growth. The tourist industry plays an important role in the economy than before. Most of the tourists are Italians and many of them bought summer houses on the island. The hotels in Lipsi are few and most of the accommodation are rooms and studios and some apartments. One of the most bigest hotels is the Aphroditi Hotel in Liendou beach.

The island has ferry connections with Athens and the rest of the dodecanese islands.

Symi tourist information

Symi or Σύμη lies about 9 miles west of the Turkish mainland, 23 miles north of the island of Rhodes and nearly 400 km southeast of Athens.
Symi has a very rugged coastline and a length of 11.5 kilometers at a maximum width of 9 km. It is mountainous and up to 616 meters high.

Most of the nearly 3,000 inhabitants live in Symi town in the north of the island, fishing, agriculture and the increasingly tourism are the main income of the island, a few decades ago sponge diving was also an income for the islanders.

In addition to various other monasteries and chapels (of which there are about 200 to Symi there) is located in the south of Rhodes from the regular tour boats started coming Panormitis the most famous monastery on the island. It is dedicated to St. Michael and houses a small museum.

Among the uninhabited islands of the community include the north upstream Ninos and the islands Chondros, Diavates, Gialesino, Kouloundros, and Seskli Marmaras.

The history of the small island is closely linked with that of the Dodecanese. Historical significance were up to the end of the 19th Symi century mainly shipbuilding and Schwammtaucherei. The Symi ships were built so fast that they had the privilege of the Ottoman Seepostdienstes in the Aegean. By the end of the 19th Century was also the heyday of the big Schwammtaucherei. At that time the island had about 30,000 inhabitants.

On Symi was during World War II during the German occupation from 1943 to 1945 the commander for the southeastern Aegean stationed. This fact has Symi still clearly visible destruction of a large part of the houses by bombing to owe. Since 28 October 1947   the island unified with Greece.
Apart from tourism, there is no significant economy on the small island.
A connection to the national and international route network is only available on the nearby islands of Kos and Rhodes. The same applies for connection to the Greek ferry network. Symi is only in recent years by local ferries and excursion boats approached.

The larger towns of the island are linked by paved roads. There is a local bus route to the port (Gialos) with the upper part of the city of Symi (Chorio) and the next Pedi Bay. In addition, the season runs a daily bus between the port and the monastery Panormitis. There are some taxis and rental cars and provider of mopeds. In summer there are also several taxi boats to the individual bays.

Drinking water is transfer several times a week by tanker from Rhodes and delivered into the local pipeline fed, because Symi not own any freshwater sources. Consequently, especially in the summer season water is very scarce. This is also evidenced by the high price of water significantly: a cubic meter of water costs five euros good (this is almost ten times the price, which can be found on Rhodes . Among other things, there are on the island, no pool.

Paros beaches

On Paros island the visitor will find many  sandy beaches some of them are, the beach of St. Anargyroi, sand with a few trees, located east of Naoussa at a distance of 200 meters around.
St. Irene located south of Parikia, at a distance of 4 km from the centre of Parikia. Protected beach with palm trees which give an exotic color.

At Aliki you will find Ambelas a few kilometers east of Naoussa. There are seaside tavernas
The beautiful beach of Drios ,with lush vegetation and running water. There are coastal taverns and bars.
Kolimbithres . Beautiful and quiet beach, in the western part of the Gulf of Naoussa. Of special interest are on granite rocks that because of disintegration have taken various shapes and create natural wells are filled with seawater and resemble kolympithres. There are restaurants.

Kaminia is a great beach, in the northern edge of the Gulf of Parikia. It follows the beach Marcello. Very close, the cape of St. Fokas, is the cave Archilogou a big hole in the almost vertical coast. Getting there By boat (scheduled services) from the port of Parikia or with your own means of transport,by the road.
The beach of Krios, 2 kms distance from the centre of Parikia, on the north side of the Gulf of Parikia, is a great beach with crystal-clear sea. There are restaurants and bars.

Livadia It is a popular and busy beach on the north side of Parikia, the position of Livadia. Extensive beach with crystal water, organized tours. At length, find shops of every kind.
Logaras
Alongside Naoussa is the vast beach of Logara designated with blue flag and is ideal for swimming,and all kind of water sports. There are hotels, rented rooms, cafes, restaurants and bars on the beach.
The beach Langeris (1.5 km from the Naoussa), is beautiful, quiet beach with fine sand and sand dunes. You can get there by boat from Naoussa, the bus until the public street or at your own means of transport.
Polyvoui beach, south of Parikia (2.5 km from the centre of Parikia), with organized tours, famous among the young people. There are restaurants and bars.You can get there by bus until the public street or at your own means of transport.
 
Souvlia is a Great beach, in the northern edge of the Gulf of Parikia. It followed the beach Marcello. Very close, the cape of St. Phocas, is the cave Archilogou a big hole in the almost vertical coast. Here, according to tradition, looking for inspiration, the great poet of ancient times. Aegina tourist information

Aegina has an area of 85 sq kilometres and a population of about 11000 residents , the island is located very close to Piraeus and is the favourite island for weekend breaks of many Athenians. The current port use to be the commercial port of the ancient city of Aegina. Today is a busy cosmopolitan port with yachts and boats. The ferries and hydrofoils are docking towards the north side while at the promenade are most of the travel agencies where you can get your tickets for your journey.
 
 The traffic of vehicles in the main port road is forbidden during the evenings of the summer months. There are many shops and tourist stops in the pedestrian streets of Aegina in the fishmarket you will find fresh fish in very reasonable prices, as a souvenir of Aegina try a clay pot which production was once famous in Aegina another product of the island are the pistachios . In the port you can visit the small white church of Agios Nikolaos. 
 
Aegina was the first capital of modern Greece and during that time was the cosmopolitan centre of Greece. During this time where build some great mansions and buildings from the first governor of Greece Ioannis Kapodistrias. Those buildings you can admire today in Aegina. Some of those neoclassical mansions, today operate as lodgings. To the north of the city on the hill of Kolona is located the prehistoric city of Aegina and the Archaeological museum. Limnos tourist information

With a population of  17,000 inhabitants, Limnos  is the eighth largest island of Greece with an area of 438 square kilometers. Located in the northern Aegean Sea, the Thracian Sea, between the Mount Athos, Samothrace, Imvros and Lesbos. Together with Agios Efstratios aparts the province of Limnos that belongs to the prefecture of Lesvos. Capital and main port of Lemnos is Myrina,  named after the wife of the first king of the island, Thoantas. Until 1955 the Myrina was named Kastro, a name which prevailed during the late Byzantine period and even  today is called informally by the locals.
 Limnos island is volcanic. Although it has no forests, there are fertile plains cultivated with cereals and vines. Limnos has beautiful and clean beaches and is ideal for quiet vacations. The main occupations of the residents are livestock, agriculture and fisheries. Also, tourism, trade and shipping. 

Ferry connections. The company Saos Ferries connecting the island with the Attica prefecture with three services a week to and from Lavrio (average duration of travel 9 hours). Schedules are also to and from Kymi, Agios Efstratios and Nea Moudania. Some greek ferries, however, do not run all year around so before travelling it would be wise to contact the local port authorities and travel agencies. Nel Lines connects with 2 services per week  the island with Thessaloniki (8 hours), Mytilini (5 hours), Chios (8 hours), and Piraeus (18 hours). The summer duration of the voyage from Piraeus has been reduced, thanks to the fast M/V Aeolos Kenteris. 

 Limnos airport has the largest runway in Greece and is one of the biggest airports in the Aegean. There are two daily schedules of Olympic Airways to and from Athens and 6 times a week to and from Thessaloniki. There is also 5 times a week a barren route line connecting Limnos, Mitilini, Chios,  Samos and Rhodes.

Skiathos tourist information

Skiathos is a small island in the Aegean Sea, which belongs to the Sporades islands. Located near Skopelos, Skiathos is the westernmost of this island group . The mainland of Greece, along with Magnesia are to the west. Its name goes back to ancient times.

The island has the city of Skiathos and the communities Koukounaries, Kanapitsa, Vromolimnos and Troullos. The city of Skiathos is a port that houses small boats and ferry services from where they connect to Skopelos, Volos, Agios Konstantinos and the rest of Greece.

The municipality of Skiathos includes the islands of Tsougria and Repio, and has a total area of 49898 square kilometres. Its major cities are Skiathos  Kalývia , Troullos, and Koukounaries .
Much of the island is covered by forests. Around the villages and the city of Skiathos are farmland. Forests are pine, and are in the southeastern part of the island. The island of Skopelos and the most distant of Euboea and Skiros, are visible in favourable weather conditions. The top of the mountain, west, has a communications tower, and at its northern slope has several valleys.
Skiathos has about 70 beaches including a nudist beach at the southern tip of the island, at a place called Banana beach.
The island is linked to mainland Greece with sea routes to Thessaloniki, Volos and Agios Konstantinos and also with the rest of the Sporades with hydrofoils, tickets cost approximate 12 euro per person for Skopelos and 15  for Alonissos . There are also ferries for vehicles, but they are not regular at off-season . Skiathos has an airport  in the northeast of the island, which has one of the shortest runways of Europe which measures only  1570 m .
There are roads to the south, east and northwest. There is only one highway that links the four settlements on the island.
