Overview:
Athens began as a small fortified village as far back as 3,000 BC. It took its name after the goddess Athena, who won it from Poseidon. Today, the home of Socrates and Pericles boasts a third of its population. A wide variety of choices for entertainment, lively nightlife, all day life rhythms combining the traditional Greek air with the modern, cosmopolitan, European one and the eastern influences, as well as a representative historic wealth of Greece are all to be found in Athens.
