Map of Fournoi Island in Greece
Fournoi, or Fournoi Korseon as they are properly called, is a complex of small islands between Ikaria, Samos and Patmos. They largest islands are the Main Island (Fournoi) and Thymena, whereas there a number of smaller islands/islets like Thymenaki, Alatsonissi, Agios Minas, Anthopofagos (Mikros, Megalos), Makronissi, etc.
Only the Main Island and Thymena are inhabited and most of the people live in the Port, next door in Kampi and at the north side of the island in Chryssomilia. Thymena also hosts a quite small settlement.
The highlights of Fournoi are the excellent, small beaches, the crystal clear turquoise waters, the relaxed atmosphere of quiet vacations, the fresh fish, the live lobsters and the friendly hospitality of the people.
Fournoi has started to become a popular travel destination for those who seek the above and require quiet vacations. You will be amazed by how many Italians you will find there in August.
At earlier times Fournoi used to be the hiding place of Pirates roaming in the Aegean and the Mediterranean, mainly due to its many gulfs (fjords).
